In Rainbows
Book of Paintings
I created a series of paintings based on the songs from Radiohead’s In Rainbows album. It was the perfect companion to help my wife and I get through the pandemic. From the very beginning of ‘15 Step’ through the end of ‘Videotape’. It brought calm and clarity to a very traumatic time. In Rainbows is a perfect album.
PROJECT DETAILS
This project was conceived as a single painting for each song. Once I began, it was clear that two pieces per song were needed. Merged together to form pairs, the challenge was bringing the separate works together that conveyed the emotional depth of the music.
After about a thousand listens, I began internalizing each element;
song to song – each click, every pop.
I bound the 10 final paintings into a hard covered book with the lyrics for each song alternating with double page spreads. Every listen had become a fully immersive, sensory experience.
